try nature journaling...!

imagine going outside in the spring.

You look at the sky, it's blue.

The sun shines yellow. a welcome break from the white screen.

you indulge in the moment, a few minutes. birds are singing, you feel warmth on your shoulders... and now you feel a pinge in your belly.

you feel boredom showing its face.

you're so used to the pull of the web, that you can't imagine yourself standing there doing nothing.

in the back of your mind, a thought comes up:

how can I capture this fleeting moment to keep it forever?

thing is, the moment doesn't have to be fleeting, and can stay in your mind for as long as you like.

You just need:

* a sketchbook or blank page

* a way to write (ballpoint / pencil is fine!)

put yourself in the mindset of recording this moment. Write, sketch or count things related to what exists in your mind and outside of it.

* what do you see?

* what do you hear?

* what do you feel?

things you can do to improve your recall (all optional):

* note down the time, place, weather

* add color

* learn the names of what lives out there

then what? you might now have unlocked a core memory from a seemingly usual moment.

here's what you can do more:

* find a sit spot where you return several times

* lay a rope in a circle and document what you find inside it

* start a backyard or park journal to document a particular ecosystem

you name it!

now grab pen and paper and go out to discover!
