weave your own web!

have you ever browsed the "socials" for many hours, left with a growing feeling of unease?

you're not the only one, of course. the web is not meant to be that way.

there is a way out, and it doesn't only involve turning off the screens once in a while.

browse the webs of others

have you wondered why this site seems nostalgic?

it's because it is part of the web revival movement, which aims at resurfacing the best parts of web 1.0, from back in the 90s / 2000's.

the links page of my website contains a certain amount of other websites which you can visit as part of this movement.

in fact, having links on my page is akin to surfing, which is the traditional way to browse the web. before search engines such as Google, we had to build our own internet and references so people could refer to us, and we could refer to them. this meant that the travel system to other "places" was entirely user-driven.

to look for ideas, if you're into nature for example, check out neocities.org with the tag "nature".

crawl away from the platforms to craft your little web

it doesn't have to be complicated, basically. you don't need to build a whole web right away! you can begin with a single landing page, in Visual Studio Code for example.

to me, HTML coding is the biggest hurdle (CSS will in fact allow you to have a better-looking website, but you only need a basic understanding to get far). hosts like mine, neocities.org, are easy to get started and include tutorials on how to make your own website.

a web page is just a very simple language one can learn to communicate with anyone in the world who sees it. isn't it amazing?
